Mr. Theophilus Burke was born in Philadelphia, PA on Wednesday, April 7, 1937
to the late Arthur Burke and Cleretta Thomas Burke. He was the husband of Laverne
Family and friends called him "Big T", "Mr. T", "Ted", "Teddy" and, "Uncle T".
He attended the public schools of Boston, Massachusetts. Theophilus served in the United
States Army. He was a self-made who work various job, later he worked as a Machinery
Mover in Los Angeles, CA until his retirement.
He was preceded in death by a son, Theophilus Burke, Jr. siblings, Arthur Merrill
Burke, Thomas Burke, David Burke, Gloria Gray, Majorie Walker, Paul Burke, Mirian
Tilerry and Joseph Burke.
He departed this earthly life on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at McLeod Health
Clarendon, Manning, SC.
Theophilus leaves a host of family members to cherish his memories: his wife,
Laverne Weeks Burke of the home, five siblings, Edith Williams, Judith Burke, George
Williams, Janet Houston and Julianne Burke, all of Boston, MA; and numerous cousins,
nieces, nephews, other close relatives and friends.
In accordance with the requirements given by the CDC in reference to the COVID-19
pandemic, the family is not receiving relatives and friends at the residence.
Final Viewing & Graveside Service
Mask are required for both the Viewing and the Graveside Service. If anyone in
your family is ill, please ask them to stay home during the funeral service. We
understand this is a difficult request; however, it is imperative that we take every
precaution to prevent the spread of illness and disease.
We strongly recommend that all persons continue to follow the guidelines of social
distancing; refraining from shaking hands, hugging, and kissing.
