Mr.Alex "Sonny" Junious, Jr. was born on Sunday, November 17, 1935 in Clarendon
County. He was a son of the late Alex Junious, Sr. and Rebecca White Junious. He was
the widower of Alice Green Junious.
He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Pleasant R.U.M.E. Church, Panola,
SC. Sonny was a faithful member of his church. He joined the Mt. Pleasant R.U.M.E.
Male Choir and the Senior Choir. His favorite song was, "Down at the Cross".
He enjoyed baseball, gospel singing, watching old westerns on television and wrestling.
As a youth, Sonny was a farmer and as life progressed, he became a logger. This he
enjoyed until his health failed. He retired from Martin Brothers, Inc.
He was united in Holy matrimony to the late Alice Green Junious, where seven children
were born to this union.
He was preceded in death by three children, Rebecca Junious Belle, Camillie Junious and
Elder Thomas Lee Junious.
He entered into eternal rest on Friday, October 4, 2019 at Prisma Health Baptist Hospital,
Columbia, SC.
He leaves to mourn his passing and grow from his legacy: four children: Elliot (Carolyn)
Junious of Sumter, SC, Leroy and Johnnie Junious, both of the home and Nathaniel
(Minister Denise) Junious of Summerville, SC; a daughter-in-law, Ruth P. Junious of
Summerton, SC; 2 brothers, Frank Junious of Columbia, SC and Robert Junious of
Summerton, SC; five sisters, Lillie Mae Felder, Elanora Nelson and Lucretia Junious, all of
Summerton, SC, Margaret Junious of Columbia, SC and Annie Sue Junious of Charleston,
SC; a sister-in-law, Rosa Belser of Summerton, SC; a special niece and nephew, he helped
raise: Bessie Green of Philadelphia, PA and James (Janet) Briggs, Jr. of Columbia, SC; a
special cousin; Robert Lee (Susan)Junious of Sumter, SC; a faithful caretaker and
granddaughter, Princess Belle; 13 additional grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and a
host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family is receiving friends at the home, 2159 Lilly Martin Road, Summerton, SC.
